The Pokémon Cookbook Easy Fun Recipes Pokemon Maki Kudo Books Reviews
- I've been a fan of Pokemon since Yellow version came out on GBA and I /loved/ this cookbook! It's very easy to understand even for someone who's not very good at cooking (me). There's a pretty big variety of food stuff in here, from pizza, to lunch boxes, to deserts! Each recipe has a picture of the finished product and has little illustrations to help with certain steps. If I had to pick out something that bummed me out a little, it'd be that a lot of the recipes call for store bought items (e.g. the store bought castella for the Pikachu cake), but I understand that this is a cookbook meant to be shared with a younger audience, so it makes sense and I can't fault it for that. Overall, this book was a delight to look through and I can't wait to try make some of the recipes!
- This children's cookbook is a big hit in my school library. I may need to order a 2nd copy because the kids love it. The images are great. The recipes themselves may not be so practical and some of the ingredients are not your typical kitchen stock. That being said, some of the recipes give simple substitutes for more easily accessible items.
- My 9 year old daughter has gotten very adept at cooking on her own. She has little problem following most recipes and cooks a wide variety of meals with little to no adult assistance. I have gotten her a few different recipe books in the past couple years and she can usually handle everything will little adult direction though we stick around for the cutting and cooking just to be sure she is being safe. All of this is to say that many of the recipes in this book are a bit tough for adults, let alone the 8-12 year olds the book lists as target ages. You will also need to stock up on a number of somewhat non-standard items to put together many of the recipes. The book is put together in a visually stunning manner with great attention to the Pokémon universe. My daughter has enjoyed this book to read, but has only tried a couple recipes due to their complexity and ingredient requirements. If you are considering this for someone really into Pokémon and not too worried about actually making food from it, this is perfect. If you are hoping to spark interest in cooking it may not be a good match.
- This was a hit with my girls on Christmas. Cute recipes. Recipes skew toward asian, so you'll see ingredients you don't use a lot. This added to the appeal for my girls. Maybe you'll see their handiwork on "Pinterest Fails", "Nailed it" or one of the other cooking disaster sites. But they're having fun, and that's what counts.
- I got this for my son for Christmas and he loves it and has been enjoying reading it. The biggest downside is that these are fairly complicated recipes with lots of ingredients and not always kids friendly foods in our opinions. He still really likes it and we are having a lot of fun just reading it and may use it for inspiration to create our own recipes.
- I really liked this book. But, there are not lot of simple recipes. Most of them are little complicated
- My kids LOVE Pokemon and they LOVE cooking so this was a match made in heaven! It gave my kids a lot of fun ideas and entertained them for quite awhile. I'm always up for my kids cooking me dinner for a change.
- Not typical food. While the ideas are creative, the tag line “easy and fun food†is misleading because a lot of this food is not anything I’ve ever cooked or am interested in cooking, much less having my kids eat it.
